About Angela Knight

Dr. Angela Knight is a classically trained international soprano and the composer of “Queen of the People’s Hearts” an exciting new musical and opera celebrating the life and times of Princess Diana. In September 2021, she and her writing partner premiered the show at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. After a successful run in the northern Virginia area, QOTPH premiered internationally in Istanbul, Turkey and was received with great accolades.   

She is a two-time winner of the NATS singing competition. After winning the Star Alliance Competition, Angela traveled to Beijing, China to perform her originally composed aira “Le Jardin” at the “Great Hall” for The Prime Minister of China, worldwide delegates, dignitaries, and government officials.

Being chosen to represent the United States as a vocalist in the “World Championship of Performing Artist,” she traveled to Hollywood, California to compete where she won three gold medals. She has performed multiple times in Sicily, Italy, including sold out performances of her originally compose Christian stage show/concert “Giubileo.” When the CD from that show was released, the songs were so well recieved and played on Christian radio that Angela was nominated for the ICM New Artist of the Year Award

Her career with the Washington National Opera has spanned over 26 years with hundreds of performances at the Kennedy Center. Roles include “Idomeneo” – The Cretan Woman, “The Crucible” – Betty Paris, “Le NOzze Di Figaro” – Barbarina, and Second Lady in “Sly” for U.S. and Japanese audiences. A lyric-coloratura soprano, Dr. Knight attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, The Baldwin Wallace Conservatory and George Mason University where she was honored as the Outstanding Musician at graduation.

She has been featured as a guest artist to represent the Washington Opera at the Kennedy Center’s season opening, had solo appearances at the U.S. Capitol, The Lincoln Memorial, The Shakespeare Theater and The Sylvan Theatre in Washington D.C. She was chosen to sing the National Anthem for President George W. Bush at the National Republican fundraiser in Washington D.C. and recently for the U.S. Senate. She has also sung the National Anthem for many Washington D.C. area sporting events, including the Washington Redskins, Washington Nationals and the Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase horse race.  

Dr. Knight has represented Prince William County, VA on the Executive Board of the Hylton Performing Arts Center and has a doctorate in Theology. She is a Minister and Chaplain at Washington Dulles International Airport and focuses much of her time and attention on the elderly in her community. She has served as a teaching artist for the Washington National Opera, representing them in our region. Angela is giving back to the community by teaching private piano and voice lessons to artists of all ages.

Angela is a talented and successful producer of many productions, including an annual Christmas benefit concert featuring outstanding singers, musicians and dancers raising thousands of dollars for Wounded Warriors, Child Help and local charities for families that “need to know they are loved by the community.”
